Casper Mattress Firmness and Feel
One of the main things that mattress shoppers should keep in mind is the firmness and feel they are looking for. Let’s talk about just how firm the Casper mattress is and how this will make it feel for different types of sleepers.
How Firm Is the Casper Mattress?
In our experience, the Casper feels like a 7/10, just a tad firmer-than-average, but the firmness of the Casper will depend on the size of the person who is sleeping on it. A larger person might press further into the mattress, so they could feel like the Casper is even firmer; a lighter person might not press in so far and could feel like the Casper mattress is softer.
In addition, the Zoned Support system is going to make the Casper mattress feel firmer or softer, depending on one’s sleeping position. Because the center of the transition layer is firmer than the rest, the Casper will feel firmer when back-sleeping and stomach-sleeping and softer when side-sleeping.
Sleeping on the Casper
Starting off back-sleeping, the Casper is a fantastic match for us because our hips sink in just a bit, and we can feel the extra lumbar support from the Zoned Support system. Because of this, Casper is one of the best mattresses for lower back pain and sciatica. Also, the top layer of AirScape foam is offering us a decent amount of contouring.
When we’re side-sleeping, the Casper mattress does feel softer under the shoulders because of the Zoned Support, which makes it a good mattress for side sleepers. The mattress is actually softer in that area, so the pressure relief is quite noticeable. When we are stomach-sleeping, the mattress does feel firm enough for us and, thanks to the Zoned Support, it is keeping our hips from sinking in too far. It is not the best mattress for stomach sleepers we have ever tried, but it is quite supportive.

What Does the Casper Feel Like?
Overall, the Casper features a responsive, balanced foam feel that features a good amount of bounce. The AirScape foam lets us sink in just a bit, but we have no trouble moving around on the mattress, and we never feel stuck. Also, with the Zoned Support system, the Casper mattress will have an uneven feel because it is firmer toward the center.

Average-Weight Sleepers: 130 lb–230 lb
Average-weight sleepers should feel comfortable and supported in all three sleeping positions, making this a great mattress for combination sleepers.  They will get all the support and comfort they need when back-sleeping, and all the pressure relief they need when side-sleeping. First off, the Casper is an all-foam mattress, so it is not going to be as cooling or breathable as a latex, hybrid, or innerspring mattress. Sitting near the edge of the Casper mattress, we feel secure enough to lean over and tie our shoes. The mattress also isn’t collapsing too much when we lie down near the edge, and we do not feel like we are going to roll off.

Off-gassing
The Casper is a bed in a box mattress so, of course, there is going to be some mattress off-gassing. When we first unboxed the Casper mattress, there was a slight chemical smell but, after 48 hours, it did go away.
Noise
Given that the Casper is an all-foam mattress, we did not hear any real noise when we moved around or changed positions at night. Noise is much more common with hybrid and innerspring mattresses, but all-foam mattresses like the Casper are usually quite silent.
Sex
Mattresses that are more responsive and bouncy are usually better for sex because they make it very easy to move around. Because the Casper mattress has more of a balanced foam feel, sexual partners should have no issues repositioning. In fact, it’s one of the best mattresses for sex.
